Dr Master Craft installs coated-steel and stainless-steel roofing across London, Essex and the South East — GreenCoat PLX standing seam, Lindab systems and Uginox stainless. Steel delivers the standing seam aesthetic and the widest factory colour range at the keenest installed price of any metal we fit, and GreenCoat PLX in particular has become the value answer to a zinc roof. We will also tell you when steel is the wrong choice — coastal air, or a client who wants a living finish.

At Dr. Mastercraft, we bring years of specialized expertise to stainless steel roofing and cladding. Serving clients nationwide, we deliver high-performance solutions for projects of every scale from intricate residential details to expansive industrial envelopes.
Stainless steel is the choice for those who refuse to compromise. It offers a sleek, sophisticated aesthetic paired with an almost industrial level of strength, making it ideal for the harshest environments and the most ambitious designs.

GreenCoat PLX is Swedish coated steel with a colour range from Mountain Grey and anthracite to Tile Red and deep greens — the system behind our Blackett Ord Court, Royston standing seam roof (2023) and a primary school warm roof at Station Road (2024). It forms and seams like zinc, holds factory colour without a repaint cycle, and prices below zinc on most roofs.

Lindab for coated-steel roofing and rainwater goods; Uginox FME stainless for prestige and harsh-environment work where even coated steel is not enough. Both are systems we fabricate and fit to manufacturer detail.

Steel wins on price-per-year, colour choice and impact resistance. It loses in coastal salt air (unless stainless), at cut edges if detailing is sloppy, and for clients who want a self-healing living patina — that is zinc or copper. We specify GreenCoat PLX happily across Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridge where exposure is moderate.

Stainless steel roofing in Essex and GreenCoat PLX standing seam across the South East are established parts of our diary — steel is frequently the metal that makes a standing seam specification viable on a family-house budget. Surveys and fixed quotes across London, Essex, Kent, Surrey and Hertfordshire.
Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: Stainless steel is virtually impervious to the rust and degradation that affect lesser metals. It is the ideal choice for maritime environments or areas with high levels of industrial pollution.
High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Despite its incredible toughness, stainless steel can be used in thinner gauges than other materials, allowing for lightweight structures without compromising on impact resistance.
Low Thermal Expansion: Compared to other metals, stainless steel expands and contracts less during temperature shifts. This makes it incredibly stable, reducing stress on fasteners and joints over decades of use.
Heat & Fire Resistance: Stainless steel maintains its integrity at much higher temperatures than aluminum or zinc, providing an extra layer of fire safety for your property.
— Yes on most projects — GreenCoat PLX typically prices meaningfully below zinc for the same standing seam look, which is why it has become the value specification. Exact figures follow a measured survey; we quote both where the building allows either.
— GreenCoat PLX carries long manufacturer warranties (system- and environment-dependent) and a service life measured in many decades with correct installation. The weak points are cut edges and coastal exposure — both manageable with the right specification.
— Quality coated steel does not rust through its coating in normal UK conditions; risk concentrates at cut edges, scratches and in coastal salt air. That is why we detail edges to manufacturer rules and specify stainless (Uginox) or aluminium near the sea.
— A wide Scandinavian palette — Mountain Grey, anthracite, black, Tile Red, greens and more. We bring physical samples to survey because screen colour and steel colour are never the same thing.
— Almost always — tell us the system or show us a photo at survey. GreenCoat PLX, zinc and aluminium standing seam can all be colour-matched to a RAL reference.
