Are aluminium roofs any good?

Yes — in the right application. Aluminium is light, rust-free, colour-stable and excellent at low pitches. It is softer than steel (impact marks) and moves more with temperature, so clip and seam detailing must be exact. On the right building with the right installer it is a 40–60-year roof.

What are the pros and cons of aluminium roofing?

Pros: lightest metal roof, no red rust, factory colours with long warranties, low-pitch capable, fully recyclable. Cons: higher material cost than coated steel, dent-prone under impact, high thermal expansion, and fewer specialist installers — which is why the contractor choice matters.

Why should I choose a zinc roof?

With little-to-no maintenance, a long lifespan, impressive durability, and natural corrosion resistance, a zinc roof is a fantastic choice for a wide range of roofing projects.

It is the best mainstream choice for coastal air — no red rust, and quality coil coatings (PREFA's included) are warranted for coastal exposure. We specify it regularly for salt-air elevations where coated steel would be a risk.
